So I am obsessed…

But that is the point of this blog, no? Yes. I got myself a new Blackberry. I really thought, years ago, that I would become a Treo person, but no. I ended up dropping my Treo from the SEPTA train (Philly’s public transportation). Then I got a 7100, then I got another, then another, and now the 8320!!!! I really like this one. I was not a fan of the bigger or regular sized BB, that is why I had the 7100 and the 8100 Pearl. They are the thin ones. But now then I heard that the new BB had Wifi. I ran my butt down to T-Mobile, and checked it out, only to get in line behind someone from my work who heard about it first. Strange, don’t I hear about gadgets first??? Not only that but T-Mobile had just released it hours earlier and one for WORKING demo models had been stolen already!!! In any event, it is mine, along with the T-Mobile HotSpot at home. This allows me to make and receive phone calls for free, when I am on Wifi. Now you may ask, but who cares? Well you, I live in Philadelphia, and we have free Muni Wifi, so everywhere I go I have Wifi. Huh, good call. Anyway. I love it. Go Blackberry :)

Okay, okay, I need to get better at this. I am re-dedicating myself to this blog. Sorry. Been looking for new adventures, and and new challenges. I promise, to me, that I will do better.

As some of you may have seen already a UK group has release the first million dollar laptop.  The group, Luvaglio, makes luxury products.  The specs are not released yet, but what we do know is that it has a 17″ LED widescreen with anti-reflective glare, 128GB of Solid State Disk space, a slot for a Blue-Ray drive, a screen cleaning device, a diamond that doubles as a power button and a security identification.  Check out the full post at Gizmag.

So in last months Wired was a piece on can openers (page 100, if you are keeping track).  So of course I needed to get one (of couse the regular can opener won’t do).  For a mear $25.00 I walked down to my local Sharper Image and purchased the “Sharper Image No-Hands Deluxe Auto Can Opener“, with batteries for another $4.00 or so.  More gadgets to fill my obsession.

838Pro

So, as you should know, all the great gadgets are first found in Asia.  Or even worse, only appear in Asia.  So I was in Chicago for a certification class, and met a very nice woman from Singapore.  We traded business cards and she then put my business card on the table and used her smart phone to take a picture of the card, where it OCRd the picture and entered the information into her contacts.  The entire class watched this happen in awe.  The phone was a 838Pro by Dopod International.  It was crazy cool.  You have to check it out.

As I return from any trip, I have the ability to get access to one of the gadget bibles, Sky Mall.  This catalog has all gadgets one could and never want.  Even now Sky Mall has combined their catalog with other great gadget catalogs: Frontgate, The Sharper Image, Hammacher Schlemmer, TigerDirect, among others.  Unfortunately, there was no outlandish or crazy gadgets to report.

Trying to be Irish?

So in an attempt to be festive, we tried to go out on Saturday for St. Patrick’s Day.  It was early, and we thought we could get a couple of pints with out a problem.  We were wrong at every Irish or what-to-be Irish bar the lines were insane.  The pic shows the Irish pub nearest to my house.  So we drank at home.  There is always next year in Jeruslam!

3.2 BILLION!! Lets all say that together 3.2 BILLION DOLLARS!!  WebEx is a good product, but truthfully don’t WebEx and Livemeeting look identical???  I think so, maybe this is Cisco’s way of not playing nice with Microsoft.  I mean they seem to be two siblings fighting.  First they sign an agreement to work together on Linux, then the next day they are suing each other on the same issue.  Now Cisco is pay 3.2 Billion for a web conference company?!  Well kudos to WebEx enjoy the money, I would!!

Did you all see, or hear, about the HP folks that had their spying case dismissed???  What the @$%?  Money will get you anything, the attorneys for these crooks found the gray area of the law and said, there is where we belong.  The judge, obviously on mental vacation, says yeah spying on reporters seems like a reasonable thing.  In reality, this kind of thing goes on all the time in corporate America and corporate world.  Just wait until some corporation is running this country into the ground.

**Disclaimer** I myself am a corporate soldier
